Who pays on the first dates?

When it comes to who pays on your first dates you can sometimes be put into a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation. Sometimes a women can be insulted if the man always insist on paying, making them feel as though they are being bought or patronized. Contrary, if the man does not offer to pay some women may think that he is being cheap.

On a first and through the early stages of dating, the man should make the first move when the bill arrives and watch for any sign of resistance. It indicates that he is responsible, steady and established. But dont blow it by announcing how much the meal cost. Simply smile and say, "This one's on me babe". If the lady has asked the man out, she may wish to pay or at least go 'dutch' Some men may have a problem though with letting the women pay for them as it may create a feeling of insecurity. Though if this happens occasionally, there is no problem.

Once you're well into a relationship, you'll know whats best for you as a couple, but in the meantime, it can be tough to know what's expected. There are no set-in-stone rules when it comes to dating "who pays?" etiquette. You should gauge each situation according to the time, place, and the man or woman in question. But don't get trampled on either, if the other rarely pays, it's important they offer sometimes.

My version of who pays on a first date is this:

You grab the check immediately.
They may do a 'fake reach.'
You wave them off and insist on paying.
They thank you for your generosity.

Have a Fab next date and all the best from the Fab Love team.
